Dr. Yan Ma, the assistant professor of Cornell University, visited our department on the invitation of Professor Sanguo Zhang of the mathematical department on April 20 and gave a lecture on “Recent Developments in Multivariate Meta-analysis and a Robust Approach Based on the Theory of U-statistic”.

The lecture was held by Professor Sanguo Zhang. Teachers and students from different departments attended this lecture. In the lecture, Dr. Yan Ma introduced the background, development and current situation of Meta-analysis and his latest research findings in this field with U statistics. At last, he had a discussion with the audience.

Dr. Yan Ma received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Rochester in 2008 and now works in the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the Department of Public Health at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. Ma’s research interests in statistical methodology center on inference for instrument reliability and rater agreement, nonparametric estimation and inference, observational studies, causal inferences, meta-analysis, complex survey data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and missing data problems.
