Period/Credits:40/2
Prerequisites: Lie Groups, Lie algebras and differential geometry
Primary Coverage:
This course is a basic introduction to the theory of integrable systems and is designed for students who are interested in applied mathematics or theoretical physics. It concentrates on concrete examples of nonlinear evolution equations that arise in various physical systems, and methods of solving these problems will be introduced. The course will cover the following topics: integrable system generated by linear differential operators, inverse scattering transform theory, the theory of τ-functions and an introduction to discrete integrable system.
