Course No.216029Y

Period10

Credits0.5

Course CategoryLecture

Primary Coverage
Lecture 1. Frames and bases: an overview
In this lecture we give an overview of frames and Riesz basis in a general Hilbert space. We introduce concepts such as tight frames and some basic properties of frames and Riesz bases. Particular attention will be given to finite frames.
Lecture 2. Some Classical Frames
We focus on classical frame systems such as Gabor frames, wavelet frames, exponential frames. Some important results as well as open problems concerning these frames will be introduced.
Lecture 3-5. Topics on Finite Frames
In these lectures a number of topics on finite frames will be discussed. These topics include but are not limited to equiangular frames, frame potential, construction of
frames with certain desirable properties, quantization error from frame representations, fusion frames, and more. An important goal of these lectures is to present several research problems that are accessible by graduate students, with the hope that some of them will be able to work on these problems quickly.
