Partial Differential Equations of Hyperbolic Type

Course No.S070104ZJ002

Course CategoryProfessional Basic Course

Period/Credits40/2

Prerequisites:

Equations of Mathematical Physics, Preliminary Functional Analysis, Introduction to Partial Differential Equations.

Primary Coverage:

This course concentrates on the basic theory of first-order quasi-linear hyperbolic partial differential equations (FOQLHPDEs). It covers the following topics: local existence of smooth solutions to first-order quasi-linear hyperbolic PDEs, the theory of blow up of solutions and shock waves, the existence and uniqueness of global solution to FOQLHPDEs and compensated compactness theory.
